u3a

Whitley Bay

Welcome to Whitley Bay u3a

"Nobody needs to stop learning just because they have finished working."

The u3a is for people who want to keep active in mind and body, enjoy socialising and are no longer in full time employment. Members benefit from being able to join any of our interest groups. Have a look below at some of the activities Whitley Bay u3a members are involved in.

Whitley Bay u3a provides its members with a wide range of skill, learning and friendship opportunities which in turn maintains mental and physical fitness, key to staying happy and healthy in later life.

Formed in 1998 and with almost 500 members, Whitley Bay u3a is part of a large international organisation which in the UK has over 1,000 branches and 400,000 members.

Membership is open to anyone no longer in full-time work irrespective of age or ability. All we ask is that members treat fellow members with respect and courtesy and abide by the principles of the u3a movement. To find out more about u3a, click on the link to our National Office at the bottom of this page.

Whitley Bay u3a, as with all u3as, is run by members for members. Everyone is a volunteer and volunteering can range from setting out tables and chairs at group activities, organising a group, committee membership or one of the many other roles that make our u3a work.

If you are interested in joining, go to our Membership page. Hope to see you soon.

Each month we have an excellent speaker followed by socialising with tea/coffee. See the Monthly Meeting page for list of topics and speakers.  You are welcome to visit and learn more about us.
