Join the u3a Board of Trustees
Nominations will shortly open for individuals interested in joining the u3a Board of Trustees and play an important role in shaping the future of the u3a movement nationally, ensuring it continues to support and inspire members across the UK.
Nominations open on Thursday 2 July, so now is a good time to begin thinking about:
- whether your skills and experience would be a good fit for the Board
- approaching your u3a's committee, and another u3a's committee to propose and second you for the role.
We are looking for members who can demonstrate significant experience in at least one of the following areas:
- previous experience in a non-executive role at a large organisation or charity
- organisational strategy development
- organisational change or change management
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
More details and the full timeline are available on the u3a website.
Anyone interested in learning more about the trustee role from a member of the Whitley Bay u3a Committee who has been a trustee, then contact Jean Cubbin.

Interest Groups Online (abbreviated as IGO) is an online u3a community that gives you the opportunity to join groups, talks and courses from the comfort of your home. In the same way as a u3a, the activities are run by members and are a great way to meet people from all across the u3a movement. It costs £12 to join for the year, equating to £1 per month. Membership runs from 1 April to 31 March of the next year. After 1 October, it costs £6 to join until 31 March next year. If you would like to find out more, click on the link below
