Group of the Month - Knitting
Happy Birthday to the Knitting Group, which has been in existence for a year. It is a friendly informal group which meets twice a month for knitting and nattering. Everyone works on their own knitting items, so far anything from baby blankets to jumpers, hats, scarves and gloves to Christmas decorations.
Go to the Knitting group page if you are interested in finding out more about the group.

CAMEO
Don't miss out on joining this group having its first meeting very soon indeed!
Why not visit the Kittiwake on Monday 21st September at 11am for monthly CAMEO to Come And Meet Each Other? No pre booking required. Just bring yourself along and perhaps an idea of an activity you would like to do with the other members.
The group is totally free to attend and refreshments are available to purchase from the bar. Details in u3a Newsletter and on u3a Website.
All are welcome and we are are looking forward to meeting you in these informal, relaxed sessions.
Chewing the Cud
Our new discussion group for armchair philosophers 'Chewing the Cud' held its first meeting on Friday 4th September in the Kittiwake Pub Claremont Crescent, Whitley Bay. One of the areas explored was the thought provoking issue of designer babies. Members successfully aired their views in a relaxed, respectful atmosphere and a good time was had by all. The next meeting will be on Friday, 18th September. Contact Brian for details but there are only a few spaces left, so be quick.
Please note, you need to be a member of Whitley Bay u3a in order to attend any of our groups.
We currently have 48 groups running in a variety of interests. You can see the list of all these groups further down this page.
Staying active is important to leading a healthy lifestyle and we try to balance our activities between physical, social and learning new skills.
Non-members are allowed to attend a "taster" session with two different groups as a guest before committing. Note, if the group charges group members a fee to cover meeting running costs, then you are expected to also pay the fee. If you are interested in attending a taster session, please contact the membership secretary, Anne Hudspith, to arrange this. Please do not turn up to a group meeting without prior consent of the membership secretary.
Have an idea for a new group? Please contact our Group Coordinators for more information and support. It would be great to hear from you.
For security reasons, we do not publish contact details on the website.
