Four hour-long sessions will take place fortnightly and run from 1:30 - 2:30 pm. The next session will cover The 1930s and be held on a Friday. It will start on Friday, May 15th and finish on Friday, June 26th. All sessions will be in St Mary’s Room at Whitley Bay Library (a very small charge will be made to pay for room hire). Places are very limited.

David has organised a trip to Naworth Castle on Wednesday 24 June, and will be collecting the balance of the £30 cost of the private tour which the Earl of Carlisle is giving. If you would like to go or your name is already down to go, and you cannot make the Archaeology Group meeting on 10 June (when John Stirling will be giving a brief introduction to the family’s links to William Morris), please contact the group leader, David so he can provide bank transfer details or other arrangements for payment.

Let David know if you can offer or need a lift if you have not already done so. The Castle is between Brampton and Lanercost Priory, off the A69. The postcode for Naworth Castle is CA8 2HF. The easiest route is A69 west to Brampton, turn right before Brampton towards Lanercost Priory, and turn right and sharply uphill before Lanercost, signposted Naworth. It is approximately three miles up the lane. There is plenty of parking at the castle. It takes about 75 minutes to drive there, there is plenty of parking, and the tour starts at 12.00. It will last for about 90 minutes, with light refreshments provided afterwards.

We will be meeting at the Linskill Centre at 10.15 for a prompt departure at 10.30, unless you have let David know that you will travel straight from home.

Afterwards, there is the opportunity to visit St Martins Church in Brampton. It will be open, and people can make their own way to suit themselves.
